The student has a solid understanding of the following areas of knowledge and can effectively apply them:

Green and circular chemistry: Familiarity with the 12 principles of green chemistry and the 10 principles of circular chemistry, and their application to drive sustainable advancements in materials, devices, and processes for energy conversion and storage.

End-of-life concepts in sustainable materials: Proficiency in methodologies that incorporate the concept of "end-of-life" to ensure sustainability in materials, considering their life cycle and potential for reuse or recycling.

Interaction between materials and their operational environments: Comprehension of the dynamic relationship between materials and the working environments in which they are utilized, particularly within the context of devices.

In the course 'Capita Selecta: Developments in Materials Research,' students will explore recent advancements in the field of materiomics. Through the analysis of case studies, students will learn how to contextualize materials research within a broader framework by considering the ethical and techno-economic implications of various research topics.
The course is structured into three modules:

Guest lectures by renowned experts, both national and international, who specialize in computational and experimental approaches to materiomics. The selection of hot topics for these lectures is updated annually in collaboration with materiomics teachers to ensure the inclusion of the latest advancements in the field.

Guest lectures focusing on scientific integrity and ethics, specifically examining case studies relevant to materiomics. This module culminates in a debate session centered around the scientific integrity and ethical aspects related to one of the hot topics covered in module 1.

Guest lecture on sustainability aspects and recent developments within the economic and social context of materiomics. This includes topics such as techno-economic analyses and open innovation. Following the lecture, there will be a group discussion to analyze the innovativeness and economic/social context of a selected topic covered in module 1.
By the end of the course, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Reflect on the latest hot topics in the field of materiomics.
- Apply insights into scientific integrity and ethics within a professional setting.
- Engage in substantiated discussions regarding sustainability, ethics, and integrity within the domain of materiomics.
- Conduct an analysis of the innovativeness and economic context applied to a topic covered in the hot topic lectures.
- Actively participate in group discussions and contribute to debates by sharing their viewpoints.

Explanation (English) | The student will need to redo any modules that were not successfully completed.
