| 1. A graduate of the Master of Biomedical Sciences has a thorough knowledge of the molecular and cellular processes of the healthy and diseased organism and has insight in different methods for prevention, diagnosis and therapy of diseases. | - EC

After this course, students are capable of
- Understanding, analysing, interpreting and critically evaluating current knowledge and research results regarding the immune system taking into account the clinical and biological relevance
- Collaborate in a team to produce a scientific report/presentation on a biomedical topic
- Designing a new scientific hypothesis based on current literature data of an immunological topic
- Designing an experimental set-up corresponding with a scientific hypothesis while taking into account its validity, feasibility and relevance
- Understanding and applying current developments in immunological techniques
- Generating and presenting a scientific report/presentation following the scientific method in a clear, concise and educationally sound manner

Conditions | Presence at the practical sessions, journal clubs, tutor sessions and pitch presentations is obligatory. The evaluation consists of multiple components: 1) (peer) review, 2) journal club and tutor sessions participation and 3) pitch presentation. For all parts of the evaluation, at least a score of 10/20 must be obtained in order to pass the course. |

Consequences | Students who are unauthorized absent at one or more practicals, journal clubs, tutor sessions and pitch presentations, receive as final grade for the course a 'N-unauthorized absence' and have to attend this session in the next academic year and have to meet the requirements (e.g. a signed report) to receive their final grade. The student needs to re-enroll in the course in the next academic year. In this case, partial grades can be transferred to the next academic year. A student who achieves a score lower than 10/20 on one (or more) parts of the evaluation will receive a 'fail (F)' as a final result. |
