    • Pharmacokinetics of drugs
    • Drug delivery systems: from basic to controlled
    • Toxicity tests
  • PART 2: Advanced drug delivery
    • Targeting strategies and their clinical applications
    • Barriers to overcome
    • Toxicity of ‘new emerging compounds'

Learning goals:

  • The student has insight in the pharmacokinetics of drugs
  • The student can explain different drug delivery systems typically used for drug delivery, including controlled release
  • The student can explain active and passive targeting drug delivery and has insight in its potential applications

Conditions

Presence at the Journal club and Assignment is obligatory. The evaluations consist of multiple parts. For all parts of the evaluation, a score of at least 8/20 must be obtained to pass the course.

Consequences

Students who are unjustifiably absent from the journal club or assignment presentation receive an N-unjustified absence as a final grade for the course and have to attend the missed journal club/assignment in the next academic year to receive their final grade. The student needs to re-enrol in the course in the next academic year. In this case, partial grades can be transferred to the next academic year.

A student who achieves a score lower than 8/20 on one (or more) parts of the evaluation will receive 'F - fail' as the final result. This final result is not tolerable. A student who scores at least 8/20 for all parts of the evaluation receives a score that is the weighted average of the different points. This final mark is tolerable. E.g., 8/20 + 16/20 = 12/20 (passed).

Oral evaluation during the teaching period includes moderator skills during the journal club.
