Prerequisites

Students are familiar with key concepts from strategic management and innovation management. This course builds on the semester-1 course Strategic Innovation.



Content

The course Managing Digital Transformation examines how organizations create and capture value in an economy increasingly shaped by technological change. It is structured around three complementary pillars, progressing from innovation in general, to digitalization more specifically, and ultimately to a deeper exploration of artificial intelligence.

  • First, the course examines the broader economic role of innovation and the policy frameworks that support innovation and competitiveness, with particular attention to the European context.
  • Second, it focuses on digitalization, exploring how organizations develop digital strategies, redesign business models, and manage the challenges of digital transformation.
  • Third, it introduces artificial intelligence (for a non-technical audience), with a focus on the managerial challenges associated with both the development and adoption of AI systems. 

By integrating insights from innovation management, digital strategy, and AI, the course equips students with the knowledge and analytical frameworks needed to understand and lead digital transformation in contemporary organizations.

Explanation (English)Students fail the course if they obtain an insufficient grade for the
overall weighted average of the two evaluation components. Students who
