Social challenges such as climate change, ageing populations, migration, etc. are forcing us to change the way we deal with our living environment: with water, mobility, biodiversity, healthcare, etc. And all at the same time. And preferably quickly. Such a profound transition requires cooperation: between governments, between governments and the business world, between governments and citizens, etc. Such cooperation in turn requires specific skills: listening, visualising, critical questioning, integrating, dealing with conflicts, etc. This course aims to hone these skills.
In concrete terms, you will each work on your own social transition project. You will be introduced to six participation tools (developed by researchers at Hasselt University). And you will learn to use these tools to map out a participation process to steer your transition project in the right direction.
The six participation tools are: the (caring) workshop, the (caring) interview, the (caring) walk, the (caring) trial setup, the (caring) dialogue and the (caring) living lab.
