Content

'Actualia Adaptive reuse' deals with the contemporary theory and practice of heritage reallocation. The lectures are organised around several themes: how does redevelopment relate to restoration and conservation? How can a building be adapted to a new programme and vice versa? How can we deal with the intangible values of a place when redeveloping it? Which concepts from other disciplines can be an inspiration when redeveloping buildings? What can we learn from informal and/or spontaneous reuse of sites and buildings by the local community? The lessons combine analysis of historical and contemporary examples with theories around adaptive reuse and sustainability.
