Studio focusing on the poetic qualities of natural and architectural space. By carrying out assignments through physical work the student gains experience in the poetic and material dimension of architecture. Within the assignments, we work with paper, wood, metal and natural stone as well as colour. Also, as far as possible, attention is paid to the total sensibility of perception and an attempt is made to leave the often too narrow approach of the purely visual. We also develop a personal frame of references for each assignment within the book of images. The conscious experience of a material and its influence on the perception of space are a key focus. How something looks, how something feels and how something is made inevitably brings us to the world of manual and artisanal performance activities. Making itself as an essential process of discovery and of wonder. This culminates in a number of material assignments, references and in the compilation of a book of images which will serve as a personal guideline for the student. The workpieces are presented as a whole and in relation to each other as material work and in the book of images.

Evaluation conditions (participation and/or pass) | ✔ |
|
Conditions | The student should legitimise any absence according to faculty guidelines.
The student discusses his/her progress with the supervisor every session.
When artificial intelligence tools (hereafter described as ‘Ai’) are used by the student for any part of an assignment this has to be communicated with the tutors during the counseling. Next to this obligation to report the use of Ai the student provides proof of the Ai process in providing an overview with a clear documentation of the tools (weblink), prompts and/or materials used to generate the Ai content as to enable the permanent and definitive evaluation.
Submission of all assignment materials is done on the agreed day and hour.
All assignments are expected to be realised and present in the book of images. Failure to deliver one of the assignments will cause an ‘ungradeable’ result: A (unjustified absence). |
|
|
|
Consequences | In case of legitimate absence, the assignment must be completed in full.
Unauthorised absence in more than one of the number of sessions (of the relevant assignment) where the student has not discussed his/her progress results in a 0 for the relevant assignment.
Failure to report or provide proof will result in an ungradeable assignment, A (unauthorised absence).
Failure to submit the assignment materials on the agreed day and hour (unless a valid and timely communicated reason) will result in a A (unauthorised absence).
