Content

This course is an introduction in the international economics of global value chains. Topics that will be discussed are theories that determine the location of global value chain activties, the effective governance and how international trade policies influence global value chains. Specific issues are international trade theory, the role of foreign direct investment, and the social and environmental sustainability of global value chains. The student will be introduced into the knowledge required to understand and analyse the economic dynamics and sustainability of global value chains.
