Content

The design studio becomes a research studio. The research question “How do we want to live together in a collective, artificial landscape?” can be related to the theme of the Biennale Architettura 2021 "How Will We Live Together?". The relevance is obvious, a meaningful answer not.

"We are asking architects this question because we believethey have the ability to present more inspiring answers thanpolitics has been thus far offering in much of the world. We are asking architects because we, as architects, arepreoccupied with shaping the spaces in which people livetogether and because we frequently imagine these settingsdifferently than do the social norms that dictate them."
- Hashim Sarkis, Curator of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition

Evaluation

Period 2    Credits 12,00

Evaluation conditions (participation and/or pass)
Conditions Attendance in design studio sessions is mandatory. Students must legitimize any absence from the design studio and must follow the guidelines communicated via blackboard if they cannot submit an assignment on time. The study trip (or substitute workshop for those who cannot attend) is part of the course and is therefore mandatory. The student must legitimize non-participation in the study trip (or substitute workshop) and make up for the non-participation by means of a replacement assignment. This assignment must be submitted correctly and on time.
Consequences Legitimate absence requires full completion of the current assignment. Unauthorized absence at one-third or more of the number of sessions associated with an assignment will result in a 0 for the assignment. Failure to submit assignments by agreed day and time (unless legitimate) will result in a 0 for the assignment. Unauthorized absence for the study trip (or substitute workshop) or failure to submit the catch-up assignment on time and correctly will be charged negatively in the final evaluation of the course.
