The course "Sustainable Production and Consumption," is the cornerstone (12 ECTS) of the track "The Economics and Business of Sustainability."
It equips you with the critical skills to shape business activities that are essential for tackling urgent sustainability challenges facing our society today.
It is about understanding and addressing the environmental and social impacts of how we produce and consume goods and services. To that end, the course will largely focus on how an individual firm can be encouraged to as well as how it can implement sustainability in its operations (supply side). Interconnectedness across scales (planetary-individual) and systems (ecological-economic) will be highlighted but the consumption system (demand side) will be covered in less detail.
It draws largely on the literature from the interdisciplinary field of sustainability management, the field that focuses on the "how-to" achieve sustainable outcomes.
