Within this course, students become acquainted with the transportation sciences domain in real-life. The student performs an internship of 40 working days, during which the knowledge and competences gained in the program of transportation sciences are applied on a concrete road safety or mobility problem which is taken from real-life. He/she will also get acquainted with new methods and techniques, used in the field. To do this, there is a close cooperation, on location, with an organization which is active in the field of transportation sciences, or an organization which can formulate a clear problem in the field of mobility or road safety.
Students need to propose an internship organization and topic themselves and ask for the approval by the teaching team. They need to respect the deadline communicated by the teaching team.
The internship is carried out individually, possibly at his/her workplace, on a particular internship project in terms of transportation.
The student elaborates an internship plan of approach at the beginning of the internship, keeps a logbook during the whole internship period and finally, writes an internship report. Moreover, an oral defense by means of a poster takes place.
