- EC
| Can innovatively apply the methods and theories of interior design, in particular in the domain of adaptive re-use, and can combine these efficiently with insights from human sciences, exact sciences, and the arts. | - EC
| Given the complexity of designing and the design context, can independently make precise and responsible choices and develop design solutions in a multidisciplinary context and in dialogue with the stakeholders, always focusing on the user. The graduate is able to reflect critically to adjust own work, vision and process. | - EC
| Can independently apply and come up with research- and design strategies within a societal, historically defined and international context, and in function of a future oriented vision on the design of an interior space. | - EC
| Can innovatively use materials, taking into account their characteristics, possibilities, and limitations with respect to texture, tactility, light, colour and acoustics and with a particular sensitivity to their esthetic qualities. | - EC
| Can innovatively apply techniques, building constructive, and ecologic principles in the design. | - EC
| Initiate a personal designer profile and articulate this through an own design language and design vision. | - EC
| Can research (by design) with a sense of intuition, experiment, associative thinking, imagination and emotion and, in doing so, displays an artistic-explorative, visual-imaginative perspective. | - EC
| Starting from a complex design question, can independently set up and execute relevant research, integrate the results in the design process, scientifically report about it, and interpret own and others' research results critically, in particular within the domain of adaptive re-use. | - EC
| Can communicate a design(process) convincingly to novices and specialists in images, written and spoken word, using the appropriate visualization techniques, both digital and manual, in a balanced, targeted, and deliberate way. | - EC
| Has acquired the management capacities to follow-up a (whether or not multidisciplinary) design- or executing team in a leading role, and can prepare and communicate a building dossier, taking into account the deontology of the profession. | - EC
| Designs with awareness of the intermediary character of interior architecture and the societal, ethical and ecological implications of the design.

The master's project will be divided in a workshop design studio and an individual assignment (with different tutors). The workshop design studio will consist of an intense research by design exercise during 1 to 2 weeks, in collaboration with other studios or schools and can take place in the first or second semester, depending on the collaboration. The individual assignment of the master's project forms the major part of the second semester and is closely related to the master's thesis. It consists of a personal and original work of design on an existing building or site and its surroundings. Students will be invited to consider sites that are part of ongoing research projects but may also propose sites from their own home countries.

Evaluation conditions (participation and/or pass) | ✔ |
|
Conditions | Attendance at the sessions of the design studio is required. Students must justify any absence in the design studio. In case students cannot submit (parts of) a design project in time, they should follow the guidelines at stake communicated through blackboard. There is a strong relationship between the master's project and the master's thesis: only when submitted the master's thesis in time, the student will be allowed to defend his or her master's project for the jury. |
|
|
|
Consequences | In case of legally justified absence the current project should be fully completed. Unauthorized absence at one third or more of the number of design studio sessions associated with a design studio project, results in mark 0 for the assignment at stake. Failure to submit the project on the appointed day and hour (unless justified) results in mark 0 for the assignment at stake. If the student doesn't submit his or her master's thesis in time, he or she will be excluded from the defense of the master's project. |

Additional information | The total evaluation consists of two parts. Both the group assignment in the workshop design studio and the individual assignment of the masters project will be evaluated with a jury. |
|
Second examination period
Evaluation second examination opportunity different from first examination opprt | |
|
Explanation (English) | The evaluation consists entirely of the individual assignment of the masters project to be evaluated with a jury (no group assignment). |
