Content

In this course, state-of-the-art knowledge from different scientific and engineering area's are offered in an
international context. This can be conducted by different means such as summerschools, international scientific or
engineering competitions.

The aim of this course is to maximise the student's talent development. Therefore the student may make his own proposal. The OMT will assess this and approve or reject it.

4 SP corresponds to 108 study load hours and an exchange (or external stay) of 1 to 3 weeks. A short exchange is accompanied by an extensive paper. In the case of a long exchange, a short paper is sufficient.

The 'assignment' may be carried out individually or in a group.

The students will be assessed upon their ability to gather state-of-the-art information from different scientific and engineering areas and combine this knowledge to a final product (or process) which is presented and evaluated by a written or oral work. The evaluation method depends on the available input from the international project or competitions.

Remarks

Situering in het leerdomein/curriculum: Het opleidingsonderdeel ‘International Window of Mobility’ behoort in eerste instantie tot het leerlijndomein “Ingenieur en maatschappij” gecombineerd met ingenieursvaardigheden en technologische verdieping. IWoM focust op het aanscherpen van de ‘Employbility Skill’ (ES) ‘Internationaal gericht en maatschappelijk verantwoord handelen’ en draagt bij tot competenties ‘Initiëren en plannen’, ‘Communiceren’ en ‘Samenwerken’.

Relatie met werkveld: De internationale dimensie is niet langer weg te denken in het bedrijfsleven en bij uitbreiding onze samenleving. IWoM moet de internationale blik van de student verruimen bij voorkeur via een kort buitenlands verblijf. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld in de vorm van een summerschool of via een uitwisselingsovereenkomst met een partneruniversiteit. Een opdracht binnen een internationaal bedrijf met onderzoeksafdeling kan eveneens onderwerp zijn van IWoM.

Relatie met onderzoek: Een internationale ervaring an sich volstaat natuurlijk niet. Er moet steeds via de inhoud van de opdracht een link zijn met de ingenieursopleiding. Dit mag verdiepend of verbredend zijn. Mogelijk kan de inhoud ook oriënterend zijn voor de keuzeopleidingsonderdelen in de master en/of is de inhoud gelinkt aan de onderzoeksexpertise van de gastinstelling.
